"Welcome to 2009, tonight. Do you need a minute to look at our menu?"

"Nah, I have been here. Every night in fact. Though it doesn't surprise me that you don't remember me."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Well, do you want me to grab you a drink while you look?"

"No, go ahead and bring me....ummmm.... Oh, I haven't had this before! Give me the Drug Addled Crazy with the side of Cops."

"Very good choice, that is fresh from court, today. Would you like something to start off with? A layoff perhaps, or maybe some utilities shut off?"

"Nah, I had those a couple times already. I didn't like them. Hey, how about some Family Drama. That never gets stale, does it?"

"Nope, always piping hot and exactly the same, even if you order it made differently."

"Sweet, bring me that."

*whistles while she sits and looks at the other diners*
*waitress approaches the table with a drink the she places on the table*

"Hey, what's this?"

"This is a complementary large draught Passive Aggressive Ale. It was sent by someone at another table, but I can't tell you who or why. It tastes awful and will make everyone around you sick, but you have to drink it."

"Ummmm, no, I think I am good. I will stick with a nice, tall, cold glass of STFU. That has worked well for me in the past."

"Sure, I can do that for you."

*whistles while she waits some more*
*takes large drink of STFU when it is brought to her*

"Excuse me, I have your order for the evening...."

"I don't think that is what I ordered. It looks self serving and juvenile, but not drug addled."

"Oh, yeah, the drug addled crazy didn't show up for some reason. Just flaked right out. So we brought you Inappropriate Behavior with Lack of Boundaries instead."

"Well, I suppose that is as good a choice as any. You know, I don't think I am going to come in here again after Thursday."

"Why-ever not?"

"Well, half the time I didn't get what I ordered and the other half of the time what I did order came out so badly made that it wasn't worth it. I got way too many layoffs for not only me but my friends that came here with me and the Family Drama was WAY over served."

"Where will you go every night if not here?"

"There's a new place opening up around the corner. Called Twenty Ten. I think I may give it a try. They even type it out all classy: 2010. The first night I will go there with good friends and have a couple beers, just to try it out."

"Well, good luck to you, ma'am. Can I bring you anything else?"

"Nope, just the check, which will be too high, will charge me for things I never had and will be illegible. Don't worry, I will pay it. I always do."

Art Sale in Progess...

No, not mine, sadly. elisem has her shinies on sale right now. For those of you who know her work, go and look. For those of you that don't, she had things of all stripes for people to wear. Ornaments for People and Places!

Sale! Calling all Magpies and Ferrets!

I have a couple things by her and buy my bags of beads from her. I cackle loudly and rub my hands together when her stuff comes in.

I cannot find the link to my earrings from her, but they lurk around here somewhere. Sometimes the names are what makes me buy them. I am looking at a set called Grandfather Dragon..

So, go and look. Shiney things abound!

Today is a Birthing Day! Today both Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente and Quartered by Skinny White Chick aka Our Sooj make their way into the wide world. For those of you who remember, I posted the trailer for it about a month ago.

So, go and buy and listen and read. I already have my copy pre-ordered and the first of my songs downloaded. I am just now waiting for the venue to be announced for the St Louis stop of their tour.

Because, really, Warren Ellis said -
Palimpsest just knocks me flat with her use of language: rich, cool, opiated language, language for stories of strange love and hallucinated cities of the mind.”
— Warren Ellis

And if Warren likes it, you will too. Or something like that.

Song Sirens in Need, Part Duex

For those of you who have met Sooj, and even those who haven't, I bring you music and need all at the same time. First it was Berna with a rare disease that she *will* recover from, and now SJ Tucker needs your help.

There isn't a post up on LJ yet, but there is on Facebook. I am sure the LJ one is coming.

ETA: Here it is!

Until then, please enjoy one of my favorite songs of all time. It was Christopher's lullaby for a very long time. It honestly still is.

Testing out a theory

Evil hip waders do not exist on the internet.  Except on my blog.  Let's try it and see, shall we?

We has listing!

Our concert has been listed on the Skinny White Chick site, so it is official! SAMH*!!!1

Come See Sooj at my place!

And then the next day is

Sunday April 13, 2008 — 3 PM
Trestle for President
Koken Art Factory
2500 Ohio Ave
St. Louis, MO 63104 [Map It!]
with Trestle Foote Faerie and Celia

Which I will be trying to make, rain or shine.

But I promised Sooj at least 20 people, so PLEASE COME HANG WITH ME. This is me, being completely paranoid that it is going to be me and mine and mamaduckers and hers. And while that is fun. I want more people at my kinda early bday party.

For those of you who know the story...

My Aunt Made MetaFilter

The movie is starting to be seen by more and more people, being recommended on message boards and by word of mouth. And either you love my Aunt Rosie and you are cheering for the Old Lady Truck Drive With The Filthy Mouth But A Heart Of Gold, or you think she is a gold digging moron that should have sold that ugly POS for the 5 million and skated.

Watch the movie, but understand I claim....well, I don't know what I claim other than, yes, we are both Hortons, but WOW.

Wandering the internet...

I found a new...well, I wouldn't call it a web comic, but I am not sure what else it is.
