Art Sale in Progess...

Leaving Early To Avoid The Rush
No, not mine, sadly. [info]elisem has her shinies on sale right now. For those of you who know her work, go and look. For those of you that don't, she had things of all stripes for people to wear. Ornaments for People and Places!

Sale! Calling all Magpies and Ferrets!

I have a couple things by her and buy my bags of beads from her. I cackle loudly and rub my hands together when her stuff comes in.

I cannot find the link to my earrings from her, but they lurk around here somewhere. Sometimes the names are what makes me buy them. I am looking at a set called Grandfather Dragon..

So, go and look. Shiney things abound!

I'm waiting for the night to fall
Today is a Birthing Day! Today both Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente and Quartered by Skinny White Chick aka Our Sooj make their way into the wide world. For those of you who remember, I posted the trailer for it about a month ago.

So, go and buy and listen and read. I already have my copy pre-ordered and the first of my songs downloaded. I am just now waiting for the venue to be announced for the St Louis stop of their tour.

Because, really, Warren Ellis said -
Palimpsest just knocks me flat with her use of language: rich, cool, opiated language, language for stories of strange love and hallucinated cities of the mind.”
— Warren Ellis

And if Warren likes it, you will too. Or something like that.

Leaving Early To Avoid The Rush
For those of you who have met Sooj, and even those who haven't, I bring you music and need all at the same time. First it was Berna with a rare disease that she *will* recover from, and now SJ Tucker needs your help.

There isn't a post up on LJ yet, but there is on Facebook. I am sure the LJ one is coming.

ETA: Here it is!

Until then, please enjoy one of my favorite songs of all time. It was Christopher's lullaby for a very long time. It honestly still is.

OMFGSQUEE!
My Aunt Made MetaFilter

The movie is starting to be seen by more and more people, being recommended on message boards and by word of mouth. And either you love my Aunt Rosie and you are cheering for the Old Lady Truck Drive With The Filthy Mouth But A Heart Of Gold, or you think she is a gold digging moron that should have sold that ugly POS for the 5 million and skated.

Watch the movie, but understand I claim....well, I don't know what I claim other than, yes, we are both Hortons, but WOW.

Been meaning to post this

Leaving Early To Avoid The Rush
My uncle Chris retired as an engineer from Hallmark. He has taken his love for children, his love for reading and his passion for teaching a new generation a new lesson to a place that I could only dream of. Under the cut is the article that was written about him in the Kansas City Times. What it doesn't mention is the fact that he also runs the Mary Elizabeth Birthday Fund for the Hope House and does Angel Flights. If there is a child in need of a flight for medical needs, he donates his time, his skills and his money (in gas) to the program.

Book Man at The Hope House )

I already have one author who is genrously donating a copy of her book for his Book Bag. If anyone on my flist has a book, a couple books or is in the area and can donate some time, please do. He works very hard to help break the cycle of violence.

So I plug my Uncle's website thusly:

ReadingReaches.org

and the author who has donated, as I think she needs a plug, too. Plus, Manda will want a copy of this book as soon as she sees it.

Pirate's Alphabet

So, that being said, there is my pimp for the day. I can't get over who I know: published authors, fantastic musicians, fire spinners...

Since it is Mother's Day

Happy Mother's day to all of you who had a mother, who are a mother, would have could have never have won't have....

Did I get everyone? I call it Happy Feel Guilty From The Advertising Media Day. But then again, I call Valentine's day that too.

So if you celebrate, I raise my cup of coffee to you. If you don't, I raise my cup of coffee to you!
